Serious question. What happens to someone’s career and finances after they destroy their own credibility and professional identity as publicly as he has?

Realistically his word is toast – about as reliable as a £3 note. He’s resigned from his Professor role so he’s no longer employed at Cambridge, and it seems reasonable to expect, or hope, that no other education-adjacent organisation will ever hire him again lest they ignite their own reputation the way Cambridge so effectively torched theirs.

And eventually the advance those mugs at Simon & Schuster paid him will run out. As will any profits he ever sees from its publication, which you’ve got to expect, or hope, will be scant at best.

The gullible clowns at Simon & Schuster are committed to publishing that book this month for no other reason, it seems to me, than they’ve poured hundreds of thousands of pounds into the shredder so far in support of this work of laughable fiction, so they’re desperate to recoup as much as possible no matter how badly it shreds their own reputation in the process. I know I’ll be side-eyeing anything ‘factual’ that Simon & Schuster publishes ever again, unless it’s backed by multiple unquestionably reputable named sources who’ve robustly fact checked every single page and are willing to share the evidence.

And all his public appearances in support of said work of fiction are being rapidly pulled, sometimes with a note that it was at his request. I don’t know if authors pocket an appearance fee from stuff like that but seeing as he’s the one pulling out and running away, you’d expect, or hope, that he’s getting paid nothing there either.

So what’s left for him? At times like this we’re used to seeing those on the right caught in a scandal that should finish their careers – the Lawrence Foxs and Russell Brands of this world for example – enthusiastically hurling themselves at the feet of gullible MAGA/Reform supporters, monetising their sudden conversion to some religion or other, desperately flogging ‘anti-woke-mind-virus crystals’ or whatever, and/or just, y’know, taking walloping dollops of cash from cunty millionaires looking to use their reach to broadcast the sort of self-serving right-wing hatred the aforementioned gullible mugs routinely and unquestioningly lap up.

But Arday’s not got that option. He’s very much a liberal lefty type, and nothing wrong with that unless you’re shit out of credibility and a career. Who is going to pay him to turn up and talk self-aggrandising fantastical bollocks under their banner? Who is going to believe a single word that comes out of his mouth ever again? What organisation or philanthropist or fund-raiser or, well, anyone at all is going to want the stench of his bullshit smeared across everything they’ve built?

I have a gut feeling there’s plenty of fools out there who will be only too eager to tie their limited credibility to his mast all the same, and pump out more bullshit in support of his ridiculous lies to fundraise in his name from the left-wing equivalent of the gullible mugs on the right.

Groups like Good Law Project seem like the perfect fit for this, the kind with a gobshite of a figurehead only too keen to weaponise any suspicion of nasty stuff like racism by flapping their lips in support of a plagiarist and liar, and ever-so-legitimately pocketing a ton of the funds they raise in the process – to fund their, uhhh, fundraising efforts, you see.

So I expect to see groups like that at the front of the queue to milk more money from fools who genuinely and mistakenly believe Arday’s just a tragic victim of racism or whatever the line is this time.

But is that it for him? Getting by on the scraps groups like that toss him after they’ve taken their significant cut?

Who else is going to employ him?
