The Guardian’s Top 100 Films of the 21st Century So Far (in 2019 anyway)

In 2019 the Guardian published a list of what their super snooty critics considered the best films of the last 19 years, or as they elected to call it, the Top 100 Films Of The 21st Century, they’re so melodramatic.

A bit late to the party but here’s the list and it’s absolutely hilarious. I genuinely think they just these out of a hat and listed them in that order. I’ve also listed whether I’m aware of the film, if I’ve seen it or am interested in seeing it, or if I’ve seen it and what I think of it. I’ve never even heard of the overwhelming majority of these, and several of them are just laughably stupid, with a ton of egregious omissions.

Have fun!

  60. You have to be fucking kidding me. This is when I realised the list is absolutely meaningless, has no objectivity whatsoever, and can be entirely dismissed as anything other than one guy stroking his own ego while deeply inhaling his own farts. And I think we all know who that guy is don’t we.
  61. Don’t know it
  62. Don’t know it

  77. Surprised it’s this low, although I didn’t think it was as good as everyone else did at the time.
  78. Fantastic. Shame Brad Pitt is a violent abusive piece of shit whose kids fucking hate him, what a cunt.
  79. Is this based on the graphic novel? Enjoyed that, not seen this though.
  80. Never seen it, never will. Not a fan of the director, or of movies that aim to make their viewers experience depression, trauma, and torment.

  84. Don’t know it

  94. Yeah I like this film but overall I’m not a fan of Ridley Scott as a person. He gets far too much credit when his films are good, because it’s almost never because of him.
  95. Not seen it, not that bothered
  96. Don’t know it
  97. Not seen it, not that bothered. Don’t like much to do with 9/11, don’t need to be reminded of it.
  98. Astonishingly good, and crazy that it’s this low, behind fucking Borat and Ted??!
  99. Don’t know it
  100. It’s much better than I thought it would be, but Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt are both absolute fucking cunts, which makes it much harder to enjoy than it might otherwise be.

I guess I’m just not much into the sorts of movies that professional movie critics are into.
